Corporate and Constituent Relations, The Cable Center
As Vice President, Corporate and Constituent Relations, Lela is responsible for planning and executing strategies for support of The Cable Center and its programs; expanding its network of key constituents; and creating opportunities for increased engagement and participation. She joined The Cable Center in December 2010 from October Strategies, Inc., an award-winning strategic communications consultancy serving the media, telecom and entertainment sectors, that she co-founded in 2000.
Prior to October Strategies, Lela held several executive positions at Tele-Communications Inc. (TCI), then the nation’s largest cable operating company, most notably directing its corporate communications, employee communications, industry relations and national education initiative through to its acquisition by AT&T in 1999. She began her industry career right out of college at the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau in New York.
Lela is a charter fellow of the Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT) Foundation’s Betsy Magness Leadership Institute (BMLI) and is a member of the Cable Pioneers. She is the recipient of two Association of Cable Communicators (ACC) Beacon Awards for communications and public affairs excellence, and of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA)’s Vanguard Award for Young Leadership, one of the industry’s highest honors. She holds a B.FA. in Film and Television from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
